  2. Only buy from a trusted sellers online. If you still new in online buying, learn by buying the cheap item first. Don't rushing buying the gold and silver coins online, it will hurt you later.

  3. If man can make these things in the first place, there is no reason they cannot be reproduced.
Suppose we will have to live with it.
But somehow, some one will get trapped.
Maybe due to wrong perception, greed, carelessness or naivety.
At times, humans are rather strange.
We have repeatedly told new collectors or even dealers not to CLEAN the coins, yet some still did and at times landed ourselves into unnecessary altercations.
And suppose this thought provoking article should be useful read for these category of people, haha.
Thanks a lot for sharing, Dickson :)

  4. i am wondering if they dare to put a face value on the coin as this will be considered counterfeiting. I know that fake panda usually do not carry face value since this is illegal and punishable by law in China, which is death.

  5. China is doing very little to tackle counterfeiting.

For novice collectors, example me cant tell apart a fake from genuine coin.

Coins that cost more than RM500, prefer slabbed NGC of PCGS, relatively safer option and don't have to worry about authenticity.

  9. Hi whycollect,
We always thought that we won't be the "Lucky one"!
Greed starts the game, always ended up with disappointment!

  10. Hi Shahrul,
These counterfeitors are smart, they only forge the oversea coins and medallions.

  12. Hi Nostalgia,
Yes, we can stop them by just NOT buying their items but GREED always comes in between.
We always thought "I won't kena one lah"!

  13. Dear Dickson,
I agree with you... from now onward, only buy encapsulated coins. Think this is the trend to go in future. Who knows someone may have ordered 1000 pieces of custom made 10 sen 1971... :-(

  14. Hi @Kg,
Only buy encapsulated coins is not a total solution too.
USA grading houses also having their own set of forgery problems, they are forgery PCGS and NGC Encapsulation boxes too!
Rule of thumb: Only buy from reputable sellers or auction houses.
