Bank Negara Malaysia Aluminium Souvenir Tokens.1989-2006. (Part 1)
Money Museum Of Bank Negara Malaysia issued these
tokens to visitors who visited the money museum. You are allow to buy an aluminium blank and strike a
token as souvenir with your own effort. Every year was different in design. It was available since 1989
until 2006 when the Money Museum Of Bank Negara Malaysia was closed for renovation.
There were all together 23 tokens with different designs.One proof tokens was
issued in year 1989 and an other in1993. In year 1995 and 1996, there were two pieces of special aluminium tokens issued
to commemorate the "PAMIRAN MATAWANG PERDAGANGAN KEPULAUAN MELAYA"
(Exhibition of Trade Currency of the Malay Archipelago). A special
polished brass token was issued to VVIPs visited the exhibition in 1995.
A set of 18 pieces
tokens issued from 1989 to 2006 (excluding two pieces of 1989,1993 proof
tokens, two pieces of 1995,1996 exhibition tokens and the VVIP polished brass token) were bidded and realised at RM900.00 (excluding 10% buyer's premium) during the
Malacca Auction on 6-7-2013.
