More Methods To Detect A Genuine Straits Settlements 1920 King George V 50 Cents "DOT" Variety.
During my recent trip to down south, Mr. Chen, a Singapore numismatist. He is a very senior and serious collector of Straits Settlements variety coins.
I was very lucky to be given a chance to share his experience and knowledge of how to detect a genuine  Straits Settlements 1920 King George V 50 Cents "DOT" Variety.
He told me beside the normal 3 tips, they are an other two ways to do the cross checking.

The Normal 3 Tips:
1) On a genuine "DOT" coin, the "dot" below the bust of King George V is always in oval shape. If it is a perfect round "dot", likely it was a retouched "dot" on a usual "cross" below the bust. A retouched "dot" is always a smaller and perfect round "dot".

1920 KGV 1920 NORMAL COIN WITH A RETOUCHED ROUND 'DOT' ON THE "CROSS". The black foreign substances surrounded the retouched "dot"were used to cover the repaired job.

2) On a genuine "DOT" coin, the dentils at the rim is always deformed from 2 o'clock to 7 o'clock position on the reverse. Whereas, a normal 1920 50 cents KGV coin is always with perfect dentils at the rim on both the obverse and the reverse.

3) On a genuine "DOT" coin, that is always a small "dot" can be found between the date "19 & 20" (1920) on the reverse.

Extra 2 Tips
1) On a genuine "DOT" coin, the "HYPHEN" after the date "1920" is always deformed. A normal "Cross" 50 cents will always exhibits a perfect "HYPHEN".

2) On a genuine "DOT" coin, after the "HYPHEN", that's always an other small "dot" can be seen at the tail of the letter "S" of the wording "SETTLEMENTS".

Gold Kupang Kijang Of Patani-Kelantan That Resembled A Bull.

That's always an argument on the obverse of a Patani-Kelantan Gold Kijang Kupang, the animal is a Kijang (Barking Deer) or a Nandi Bull ?
My latest acquisition of a Patani-Kelantan Gold Kijang Kupang (SS54) from my Thailand's numismatist, the animal on the obverse really resembled a Bull instead of a Kijang/Barking Deer.

A pair of very obvious horns growth on its head. No sign of hump and the saliva (Ectoplasm) from its mouth. A long and strong tail raised to almost touching the sun.

On the reverse, it was struck about 25% off center with Arabic inscription " Malik Al Adil"

The whole coin was hammer struck in a very crude manner but I just like the natural imperfection.
I like and love the natural beauty!

Straits Settlements 1899 50 Cents Silver Coin With Rim-Clipped Planchet Error
Rarity: RRR
A planchet is distinguished from a simple coin blank by having a raised rim. This rim is applied to the blank by an upsetting mill, which compresses the blank's edge as it is spun between two beveled surfaces. Planchet errors encompass all mistakes resulting from a defective blank, whether or not it has passed through the upsetting mill
A clipped coin is starts as a clipped planchet; the blank before the dies in the coinage press strike it. A punching-cutting machine is used to make the planchets. Long rolled sheets of metal are automatically fed into the machine and the punching-cutting machine goes up and down, cutting circle planchets out of the thin metal strips.
If the metal is not feed into the punching-cutting machine at a steady speed, the movement of the metal does not keep up with the punching. When this happens, the machine is cutting circle planchets out of an area in the metal that has already been cut. This a curved clip.
A Rim Clipped happened on a relatively small curved clipped occurred at the rim of a coin.

Rare Kijang Gold Kupang Of Patani-Kelantan SS58.

This is my best gift received during the Ramadhan month.
My Thailand numismatic friend send me this rare Kijang Gold Kupang of (Circa 16th-17th Century) Patani-Kelantan.

It was rated as RRR in Mr. Saran Singh book "The Encyclopaedia of THE COINS OF MALAYSIA- SINGAPORE AND BRUNEI 1400-1967".

On the obverse of the gold Kupang coin, a Kijang/Barking Deer/Nandi Bull is standing surrounded by a full circle of beads/dots. It was without horn, only visible are two hard pointed (dots) growth on the heads with saliva (Ectoplasm) flows down from mouth. Fat body with rounded hump and tail pointed down.
To my personal opinion, it resembled a female Kijang/Barking Deer/Nandi Bull.(Smile)
On the reverse, in Arabic inscription " Al Adil". It shows a concave curvature in the center of the coin. According to a senior collector of the Malay States Sultanate coinage, he told me this SS58 Gold Kupang exhibited a concave curvature on the reverse is a very rare item.

The crescent moon on top of the Kijang/Barking Deer/Nandi Bull on the obverse, shows fish tails.

Gold Kupang Of Patani-Kelantan "Sultan Muhammad" / "Mu'azam Shah" (SS46)

It was an other happy numismatic day. I received this rare piece of Patani-Kelantan Gold Kupang SS46 from my numismatic friend in Thailand. Thank you very much Sir!

Gold Kupang Of Patani-Kelantan. "Iqamuddin/Malik Al Adil".

Found this item in Thailand. It is the Patani-Kelantan Gold Kupang SS50 in variety.

It was rated as RRR in Mr. Saran Singh book "The Encyclopaedia of THE COINS OF MALAYSIA- SINGAPORE AND BRUNEI 1400-1967".

In the 15th century Kelantan was an independent sultanate but was attacked by Malacca during the rule of Sultan Mahmud Shah (1488-1511). In the 18th century, Kelantan was under the influence of Terengganu through a viceroy. However, a revolt led by a local royal family established an independent dynasty under Siamese suzerainty. In 1909 after the Treaty of Bangkok, Kelantan came under the British protection after Siam surrendered its suzerainty rights in exchange for Britain's promise to give up any of its claim on Siam's territory.

Reverse: In Arabic " Malik Al Adil" (The Just Ruler).
