Bank Negara Malaysia To Issue New Series Of Malaysia Banknotes And Coins.
A new series design of Malaysia banknotes and coins are to be issued by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) for circulation in early 2012,announced BNM today.(23-05-2011).
The new design banknotes will be featured in denominations of RM1.00,RM5.00,RM10.00,RM20.00 (reintroduce) and RM100.00.The current RM50.00,introduced in December 2007 in commemorate of Malaysia's 50th Anniversary of Independence will continue to remain in circulation.
The new third series design of coins in denominations of 5 cents,10 Cents,20 Cents and 50 Cents.
Both new series of banknotes and coins will be co-circulated with the existing series until the latter are gradually withdrawn.
BNM will be working closely with financial institutions,businesses and cash handling vendors with cash handling machines will be given six months to calibrate their machines to ensure public convenience and a smooth transition in the use of these new currency.
To increase the public awareness on the new currency,BNM will issue the commemorative coins for the third series and unveil the new design of banknotes series in the third quarter of 2011!
