Question:Where does the world "Medal" come from?

Answer:

One traces the possible sources.
One is to the Arabic "Methalia", meaning a sort of coin with a head on it.
Another source is the Italian word "Medaglia", used for 14th century coins that did not circulate,but were valuable for their historic or artistic features.


The French equivalent for medal - la "médaille."
