This incredible and unique Queen Elizabeth II 1961 Copper-Nickel 20 Cents is a first strike mirror brockage,and it is one of the most spectacular mint errors of any kind.The error was created when a struck coin remained in the press,either loose or as an obverse die cap.A second planchet was then fed into the press and,while the reverse received a proper impression from that die,the obverse was struck with the reverse of the previously stuck coin.The obverse of this error,therefore,depicts an incuse,mirror-image impression of the reverse design of the Queen Elizabeth II 1961 Copper-Nickel 20 Cents.

One may think that the obverse (mirror-image impression) of this coin was cleaned with acid,because it exhibits highly porous and displays a peculiar graininess surface.Actually,it was the result of the impact of the struck.When the hammer die applied 60-95 tonnages per square inch of  pressure hitting the two planchets,the two coins collided,high heat was created, a thin layer of surface of the coins melted,the molten solidified in split of second when the dies pulled away.It resulted the graininess surface.
