Malaysia Parliament Series 1973 10 Cents Coin With Major Die Break Errors Or "CUD".

I bidded this Malaysia Parliament Series 1973 10 Cents coin with Major Die Break or "CUD" errors in Malaysia Numismatic Society 150th auction on 18 December 2011 which was held at National Museum Malaysia.

When the die break is large it is sometimes called a "cud." It started out as a simple rim to rim die crack (and die break) has indeed developed into a major die break or what others affectionately refer to as a "Cud." These occur when a portion of the die breaks away as the consequence of a progressive crack.You can find a raised blank spot on the surface of the coin usually exhibiting concave,depression or weak design details in the same area on the opposite of the coin.

    Wow I must say that I fell in love-at-the-first-sight with this coin. Too sad I was too busy during the auction, if not for sure we were fighting for this coin! Hehe.

    That is a very big cud! If you are decided to sell this coin, please let me be the one you will inform! :D

    Hi Mr Dickson,
    Satu pelaburan yg tepat!,syiling dgn cud yg begitu besar ini tentu akan menarik perhatian pengumpul syiling error antarabangsa..
    Kalau kita usahakan antara penggemar syiling error pasti akan jumpa asal-usul cud istimewa ini iaitu syiling RTR die crack dgn garis cracknya sama dgn syiling ini.Jika dijumpai dan dipamirkan bersama syiling ini pasti mengkagumkan!...

    actually i have one similar cud coin.
    its a bunga raya series 10 cent coin year 2005.
    not much i've seen in the market.
    so i guess it must be pretty much precious than 10 cent coin year 1971.

    Bunga raya series 10 cent coin year 2005 with "CUD" Major Die Crack Errors,so far I have seen more than five pieces of similar 'CUD"!I myself collected 3 pieces,happy to know that you got a piece of my "brothers"!
    RSP RM380, very similar market value like 1971 10 cents/UNC. Cheers!
