Siamese Porcelain GlamblingTokens.Updates.

I was told by Chris, a German serious collector of Siamese Porcelain GlamblingTokens,he knew that in German, there is another serious collector who has collected more than 6,000 pieces, a Danish coin dealer also collected more than 6,000 pieces and an US collector from California ,he has as many as 15,000 plus pieces in his collection. The American Numismatic Society Collection, New York/USA has also collected 6,000 to 7,000 pieces of this Siamese Porcelain GlamblingTokens. They are also the one who own the Ramsdeen Collection from the book. They bought it!

Chris is kind enough to show and share with us some images of 100% fake Siamese porcelain tokens (tourist copies) from Thailand. This is a very important piece of information for those who want to collect Siamese Porcelain GlamblingTokens.

  1. Yes, after collecting about a dozens of these pees, we stopped because there seemed to be lots of fakes surfacing.
And that was many years ago.
Only God knows how many of these fakes around, nowadays.
It was just like the Mao pins and badges.
    Cheers :)

  2. Dear Whycollect,
My friend once owned 1.2 million pieces of Mao pins and badges.
He bought the whole lot in an exhibition from a Chinese Mao pins and badges collector in China.
Today, most of his Mao pins and badges were sold to an American.

  3. 1.2 million pieces!
    Phew, fantastic!
Frankly, if not for the rampant fakes in the market, we would have continued collecting them.
Once started, collecting these little badges which were mainly made of pot metal with Faux Guilloche can be extremely addictive.
Wondering who are those still holding onto your friend's million badges?
Thanks a lot for sharing, Dickson :)

  6. I just found your blog because I was researching some of these found in an estate. This is the most helpful series of articles, and is much more informative than Wikipedia! I will be listing the very few I found on eBay, and these examples of fakes have made me aware that I must use a magnifying lens to give lots of detail to shoppers. Thank you again for being so thorough!
