This is a very unique error coin because the Broadstrike Errors was the derivation of a rare 50 cents planchet without lettered edge "BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA".


Since 1971, Malaysia 50 cents coins were minted with lettered edge.The lettered edge was minted before the design on the obverse and reverse of the coin was struck. Hence,we can find 50 cents planchet always struck with lettered edge.However,there are 50 cents planchet come without the lettered edge, it is quite scarce to planchet collectors.


This 1994 50 cents Broadstrike Errors or Collar Die Strike Errors was the derivation of a 50 cents planchet without lettered edge.The collar die was stuck at the rim on the obverse of the coin due to the non lettered edge planchet  is slightly bigger in its diamater, hence the collar die fail to move upward to hold the edge during the strike.

The diameter of the Broadstrike Errors coin is 29.04mm compared to the normal diameter length of 27.76mm.
