Selangor Turf Club (SLTC) Nickel Token


The British Resident, Sir William Maxwell, started amateur racing in Selangor Turf Club in early 1890s. SLTC was established in 1896. Sir Frank Swettenham, the new British Resident, was its first President. Membership stood at a grand 110.


The Selangor Turf Club (SLTC) is one of the three horse racing clubs in Malaysia,the other two are the Penang and Perak turf clubs.Located in the major city of Kuala Lumpur, the Selangor Turf Club hosts about 30 race days a year at the Jalan Ampang Racecourse. A racing season begins from January till December.


In August 1992,the last race was run at the Jalan Ampang racecourse.  The first race was run at the SLTC Equestrain and Sports Centre at Sungai Besi in October 1993. But the official opening of the SLTC Equestrian and Sports Centre was held on 3rd of April 1994.
