MALAYSIA 100TH ANNIVERSARY OF RUBBER (1977) COMMEMORATIVE PATTERN COIN

The 100th Anniversary (1887-1977) Of The Planting Of The Natural Rubber Commemorative Pattern Coin.

In appreciation of the important role played by the natural rubber industry in the development of the nation's economy, a $1.00 non-proof cupro-nickel coin was issued on 2nd July 1977 to commemorate 100 years of the planting of natural rubber in Malaysia.
On the obverse of this coin the advancement of natural rubber research and the worldwide usage of the natural rubber are signified by images of rubber-tapping and the isoprene molecules with a globe as the background. The obverse also features the logo of six tapping knives that adopted to celebrate the 100 years of the planting of natural rubber.
The reverse has the denomination in the centre, with the years 1877-1977 inscribed below it. The words " SERATUS TAHUN GETAH ASLI" ( One Hundred Years Of Natural Rubber ) and "MALAYSIA" appear along the edge of the coin. The coins were struck at the Bank Negara Malaysia Mint.
