It was awarded to customers who became members of  Genting Highlands VVIP Club. I was told by the owner of this set of 3 of Genting Highlands Hotel tokens, he qualified as a member of Genting Highlands VVIP Club and was rewarded with this special gift set after he had "contributed" more than 100 thousand Ringgit to the resort as a "development "fund. He wanted me to really take good care of his very "valuable and rare "gift. Of course, I promised him and wishing him "Fook" (Good Health),"Loke" (Prosperity) and "Sow" (Longevity), so that I can get more Genting Highlands tokens from him! Cheers!

UNLISTED $1.00 GENTING TOKEN

Unlisted  $1.00 1974 Genting  Highlands Copper-Nickel Token

Rarity:RRR

"If one decides to go into contemporary exonumia, the best place to start is to go to Genting Casino, at least in the Malaysian context." said   Nu Coins and Notes.

I was convinced by this statement made by  Nu Coins and Notes. so I start my collection. To collect Genting Highlands Tokens in bigger denominations. i.e. 50 cents and $1.00 are not an easy task today.

Few days ago ,I found a piece of Genting Highlands $1.00 Token in copper-nickel material. It is an unlisted Genting Token. In  Master Saran Singh's book of "THE ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF THE COINS  OF MALAYSIA, SINGAPORE AND BRUNEI 1400-1967" ,this $1.00 Token in copper-nickel material is not listed. There were $1.00 of  copper-nickel (SS48) and copper (SS49) images listed but not of this design. Same size of 30mm in diameter but the weigh are differed. Item SS48 (Copper-nickel) weighed at 12.2gm, item SS49 (Copper) weighed at 12.5gm but my new found item was weighed at 13.01gm.

Hope to discover more unlisted Genting Highlands Tokens.

These are the posts on my Blogspot and you can link if you want to know more about Genting Highlands Tokens.

GENTING HIGHLANDS GAMING TOKENS

Genting Highlands  1974 20 Cents and 50 Cents Copper-Nickel Tokens.

These 20 Cents and 50 Cents Genting Highlands tokens dated 1974 were minted in copper-nickel material. There were well received in the market as normal circulation coins like the Malaysia first series (Parliament House) coins until the relevant authorities got to advise Genting Highlands management to withdraw them from circulation.

Due to heavy usage, most of these tokens that I have seen were always in very bad condition,to get a uncirculate piece is very scarce. I was lucky to offer by an old numismatist recently for these two almost brilliant uncirculated Genting Highlands tokens.

UNLISTED 1974 50 CENTS BRONZE GENTING GAMING TOKEN

Genting Highlands Unlisted 1974 50 Cents Bronze Gaming Token.
Rarity: Unlisted/SS47A
The Genting Highlands Resort, located on the Gunung Ulu Kali Peak in the mountainous main range in the State of Pahang 2,880 metres above sea level, was opened in mid 1971.
Malaysia's first and only casino, which was then located in the Highlands Hotel, issued One Ringgit tokens for use in the Casino de Genting between 1972 to 1974. In 1974, 20 Sen & 50 Sen tokens were issued for use in its slot machines. These tokens were however withdrawn some time later on the advised of Bank Negara Malaysia when public were accepting them as normal legal tender.
Two days ago, I was being approached by a couple of collector who showed me a piece of 1974 Genting Highlands 50 Sen bronze gaming token. I had collected many pieces of  1974 Genting Highlands 50 Sen gaming tokens, but there were made of Cupro Nickel material.

FAKE GENTING GAMING TOKEN

Malaysia Genting Casino Fake $1000 Gaming Token

I was told this forgery Genting gaming tokens were used in the early 90's during one of the Chinese New Year when many people were flooding the Genting Casino. A group of people from a syndicate trying to cheat Genting Casino during Chinese New Year hoping that  the casino cashiers will be too busy and more relax to check these fake tokens. How ever Genting Casino's security system are too good for them to break through.

They were rumours claimed that these fake Genting gaming tokens were made in Taiwan but some said in South Thailand, some even said there were made in Penang, because they saw stacks of these fake tokens were sold on offer price as souvenirs in the street of Penang some years back.

Looking at this token, it is not a Ah Meng or Ah Lian's products, it was a hi-tech production. It was produced in multi colours and bonded with two material, plastic and aluminium combined.

One of my sifu told me he had also seen a $500 Genting fake gaming token. Do you have any? I hope to collect a complete set with all denominations.

GENTING GAMING TOKENS

Genting Highland $1.00 Brass Gaming Token.

"If one decides to go into contemporary exonumia, the best place to start is to go to Genting Casino, at least in the Malaysian context." said  Nu Coins and Notes.

Most of the Genting Casino tokens were issued with the year dated 1974.There are in denominations of 20 Cents and 50 Cents minted in copper-nickel, $1.00 in copper,copper-nickel,copper plated and $5.00 caber car token in copper-nickel material.

These tokens were well received as a form of coin in the market (pasar) in Kuala Lumpur ,it worried the authority and was asked to  remove from circulation.

Genting Casino also issued many Gaming Chips with much higher denominations in combination of compression-moulded clay with fancy colourful fonts and letters. The $1.00 gaming chip was removed and stop issued within a year of introduction because its face value was too low.

Recently I discover a piece of unlisted Genting Casino $1.00 token minted in brass. It was belong to a very old collector. It was shown to me in a rush, I managed to take a few shots of photos but missed the chance to take down the weigh and diameter of this rare brass token. I convinced him to let me take down all details in our next meeting.
