Johor Cube Silver Money Sultan Abdul Jalil Shah III (1623-1677)
Rarity: Unique/RRRR
This is a piece of ancient Johor currency made of silver in rectangular shaped like dice. There are six facings. Each side has a inscription in Arabic " Sultan Abdul Jalil Shah " or " Khalifatul Muminin ".
This is the first time I came across such collection. When I approached some senior collectors of Malay States Sultanate coinage, most of them said they have not seen one except Master Tan Tai Seng. He told me he had heard such cube shape coin exist, but this is the fist time he holding a actual cube silver coin. He said this is quite rare !

Looking at the shape and composition of material used on this coin, likely it was used as a medium of exchange like the cash money we use today. It was accepted in Johor Empayar as one of the legal tender in business transaction.

This cube silver coin was found in an area in Siak, Sumatra , Indonesia .

Dimensions : 15.66mm x 15.66mm
