I found a Malaysia Parliament Series rare year-1969 50 Cents in UNC condition with a Strike Through Errors on the obverse.

Strike Through Errors occurs when any foreign substance gets struck into the surface of a coin.

Strike Through Errors
Debris composed of tiny metal shavings and thick grease or wax are the usual culprit but it could be anything from a piece of string to a piece of cloth or even a staple!

  1. Hi Dickson,
Haha, we seem to have one like yours too.
Could you kindly take a look.

Haha, if they are indeed from the same batch, then wonder which one came out first?
Or rather which is taiko and which is yee-ko?
Yours or ours, older by a second? haha.
Thanks a lot for sharing, Dickson :)

  2. Dear whycollect,
I just collected this piece on last Monday,(13-06-2011).It was confirmed by my Sifu-Sifu and collector friends that all these 1969 50 cents UNC with Strike Through Errors on obverse were belonged to Mr.Tony Lye way back about 40 years ago.He started with a row of about 20 pieces, all were carried the same errors. At first he sold for RM2.00 a piece, when demand was higher due to rare date,he sold it for RM50.00,last few pieces was sold for RM100.00 about 10 years ago!
We are close brothers and a "special kid" too!
With rare dates plus errors and in UNC condition,it worth couple of hundres today!
    Cheers!

  3. Wah, thats really a good piece of news to us.
Back then, with our limited knowledge on errors and uncertain whether it was a real error or not, we took the gamble because it was a 1969 50sen and the only one which was not the same as the normal 50sen coins of the same date.
Haha, it was always due to our impulsive nature to grab any coin which was not normal that actually drove us to get this specimen too.
Well, along the way, we've got to admit, we gained some and we lost some too.
Some were real errors like this specimen here, and some were PMDs and assisted errors.
In fact, this was one of the main reasons which made us trying our best to get expert people like you, Nu and others to come out to guide amateur collectors.
We do not want to see collectors learning the hobby the hard way like what we did, got cheated or buying the wrong or worthless collectibles.
About the coin here, a good ending for another episode of jejak kasih, haha.
Phiit, its so nice to see others having the same coins that we do.
    Thank you so much, Dickson.
May we have another happy ending of jejak kasih soonest possible, hehe.
    Cheers :)

  5. Thanks a lot, Dickson.
Its really wonderful to know how the coins that we've collected come into being after they have left the mint.
Our sincere thanks to you and all the sifus in advance.
    Cheers :)
