Johor, Private Paper currency, 1878 (1st May) $1 note. Issued by the estates of Tuan Syed Muhammad bin Ahmad Alsagoff. In early 1870, he was awarded lands by the Johor Royal and approved to import foreign labors to work on the lands. Therefore, private currencies were printed. This note is No.96, printed by the Al Sa’aidi Press, Singapore, once circulated around the area of Kukup (ST-JPP3, KNB3)
柔佛州地方印发园丘钞, 1870年初期, Syed Muhamed Ahmad Alsago 获柔佛皇室赏赐农地, 被批准引进外劳, 印制私人钞票, 这张壹元钞在新加坡印刷, 在龟咯 (kukup) 一带使用, 直至1917年为止.
