Assisted  Error Coins are error coins that are produce not under the normal mint process. It is being produce with the help of mint worker by feeding the planchet into the mint press manually.

The size of the planchet of an assisted error coin is always bigger then the actual size for the intended denomination.

During the minting process, the feeder finger that supplies blank planchets to the press, only fit to holds the actual size (or smaller sizes) of planchets for the intended denomination, any planchets bigger in size then the feeder finger can fit will be rejected.

There are instances there claimed to be Die Test and Die Trial coinage.

I collected this 51 Cents  Assisted Error Coin as specimen for my research.

NIEWMISMATIC QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Question:
helo dickson.

http://nazribanknotes.blogspot.com

Answer:

Hi Nazri,

Is ok if you can't make it to come for the MNS Auction.Important is to keep active in Numismatic.

Pengalaman yang banyak dalam memegang,meninjau,bertanya-tanya is the rule of thumb supaya kamu tidak mudah ditipu.

Cheer with best regards
Dickson Niew.

Tallies or Checks are issued by companies or individuals and they used them as work check, redemption tokens, coupons, tickets or even as your identification tools.
For instant, they pay to the coolies at the harbour as work check tally for each separate carry of coal from stack to vessel or vice versa, they use it as proof of purchased of a ticket to board a ferry, they use it as a  coupon to redeem a packet of sugar in the estate,or they use it as identification tool to enter an illegal gaming center or as a recognition tool to proof that you are a member of their group,e.g.the secret societies.(Kongsi-kongsi Gelap).

Queen Victoria.One Cent.Reverse.

In those days, metal minting and printing in small quantity is very expensive,so conveniently they used existing coinage to counterstamped or countermarked it to make a different.Numbers and alphabets are incused deeply countermarked on the obverse or reverse, some rare tallies were counterstamped on both the obverse and reverse.

Photo:Incused "BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA" was struck on a reeded/milled edge 50 cents planchet.

A coin struck on a planchet created for another denomination or foreign planchet. These are among the most popular of error types and command good premiums.Even more desirable when the planchet used is of a different colour than the intended planchet.

Through out the years, the Kilang Wang Negera (KL Royal Mint) has contracted to strike coins for many foreign nations and sometimes these foreign planchets get stuck in the "tote bins" which are used to transport planchets to the coining presses. On Malaysia coins this can only occur on planchets that are of the same size or smaller than the denomination being struck.

MALAYSIA MINT ERROR COINS-GENUINE VS COUNTERFEITS.

Malaysia Genuine Mint Errors VS Counterfeits.

Pic:(1).Genuine Rim Clip Coin
With Blakesley Effect
Many curved clip error coins are faked by punching the clip out with a common punch.
Straight clips are faked by filing away the metal from the edge of the coin.

How to detect a genuine clip errors and a counterfeits?
Here are some tips to refer.

Always pay attention to the rim right opposite/across the affected  area. The rim opposite the clip will always exhibits an imperfect or deformed rim, this is due to the affected area could  not respond the force of the upsetting or upended process to raise the rim. This phenomenon was best explained by Mr.Blakesley, hence,is also called Blakesley Effects (Pic.1)

The ends of the rim at the affected area are always bevelled.

MINT TOKENS-UK.ROYAL MINT & US.DENVER MINT

Royal Mint of the United Kingdom .

Royal Mint.UK.Token.Obverse
The Royal Mint of the United Kingdom (previously the principal mint of the Kingdom of England) is the body permitted to manufacture, or mint, coins in the United Kingdom. The Mint originated over 1,100 years ago, but has functioned since 1975 as a Trading Fund, operating in much the same way as a government-owned company. It now has executive agency status, and is currently undergoing the process of being converted into a Government-owned business. The Royal Mint as a body reports to HM Treasury, though departmental day-to-day responsibilities are handled by the Shareholder Executive.

As well as minting coins for the UK, it also mints and exports coins to many other countries, and produces military medals, commemorative medals and other such items for governments, schools and businesses, being known as the world's leading exporting Mint. Responsibility for the security of the site falls to the Ministry of Defence Police, who provide an armed contingent.
The Royal Mint began to move its operations from Tower Hill, London to Llantrisant, South Wales, in 1968 and has operated on a single site in Llantrisant, since 1980, where it holds an extensive collection of coins dating from the 16th century onwards. The collection is housed in eighty cabinets made by Elizabeth II's cabinet maker, Hugh Swann.
