OFF CENTER STRIKE WITH PARTIAL-BROCKAGE ERROR

Malaysia Bunga Raya Series 2005 20 Cents In Off Center Position With Partial-Brockage Errors

Rarity:RRR

Off-center strike happens when a coin blank is mis-fed into the coin press and only part of the planchet is struck.

A brockage error occur when there are two coins involved. When one of the coins has not ejected properly it will find its way back between the dies and will be struck on a blank planchet which was fed into the collar subsequently. The image of that first struck coin will be impressed on the blank planchet. The result will be a second coin which has images of the first coin impressed into it. Those images will be pressed into the coin and the image will be in reverse (mirror image). This incuse sunken image is known as a brockage.

A partial brockage occurs when there is partial overlap between the two planchets  or discs involved. Many coins with partial brockages are struck out-of-collar (broadstruck).

This coin was inherited from AJ of face book which was struck in Off Center position and exhibited a Partial-Brockage Errors. It is still in brilliant uncirculated condition.
